Abstract

An amputation of the limbs is a severed injury which adversely affects the patient's ability and psychological if the limbs were not correctly replanted. Replantation of the limb which consist of multispecialty team operation is the reattachment of this body part with attempts to restore neurovascular and musculoskeletal integrity, function and aesthetics.

Cases report: We present two cases report: a 34-year-old patient who presented with a total amputation of the left distal forearm due to guillotine. The hand was able to reattached successfully with hand function gradual recovery after 3 weeks. The second case is a 51-year-old patient who presented with total amputation of both ankle due to crushing machine. The limbs were able to reattached successfully.

Conclusion: There are many factors which affect to the outcome of successful limb replantation. Awareness of the factors can increase the possibility of salvage hand. The patient will need to reexamine and rehabilitation to restore limbs function.
