Abstract

Objectives: Survey the blood pressure control rate according to JNC 8 in elderly and some related factors.

Methods: Cross-sectional study was analyzed in hypertensive patients aged 60 and older who were receiving treatment at the Senior Military officials clinic of Military Hospital 175 from October 2015 to March 2016.

Results: There were 390 hypertensive patients 60 years or older who participated in the study for 6 months. The overallblood pressure control rate according to JNC 8 guidelines was 55.9%. The blood pressure control rates in different subgroups were: 72.8% (patients without diabetes and chronic kidney diasease – CKD); 39,8% (patients with diabetes and no CKD); 32.9% (patients with CKD and with or without diabetes). The blood pressure control rate is too tight at 11%. Age above 70 and diabetes decreases blood pressure control.

Conclusions: The rate of blood pressure control according to JNC 8 is comparable to that of domestic and international studies, over 70 years and diabetes is a barrier to blood pressure control in elderly people.
