Abstract

Objective: To evaluate cognition and effectiveness when applying active medodology in teaching specialized English.

Subject and method: Experimental Pedagogical research on 127 students in classes (y45b1, y45b2); and 138 students from the control group in classes (y44b1 and y44b2) from September 2017 to January 2018.

Results: Survey results on 127 students from two classes (y45b1, y45b2) showed that students’ major purpose in learning English is to complete course accounting for 95,27%, and to be forced study only 2.36%. Group works and Mind map are two methods which students are very interested with the high rates in order 77,2% and 90,6%. Innovating teaching methods and form of organization are initial conditions to help students more active in learning. There was a statistifically significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups of students applying traditional method and active one with p < 0,001.

Conclusion: The effective level of active methodology is to create result better than traditional one with average point different about 0,79. Applying active learning and teaching methods are suitable with characteristics and requirements on specialized English lessons
