Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic hemoclip in the treatment of bleeding peptic ulcer.

Methodology: Prospective a n d described study. We studied in 41cases upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastric and duodenal ulcer were interventional hemostasis by endoscopic.

Results: Male of majority 85,4%. Average of age 54.3±20.9. Gastric ulcers 34.1%; duodenum ulcers 63.4%; Gastric and duodenal ulcer 2.4%. The rate of hemoclip clamping 53.7%. Combined hemoclip and supplemental HSE injection 46.5%. The mean number of hemoclips applied was 2,1 ± 1,3. The mean of time was 8,1 ± 3,5 min. The relationship between hemostasis method and lesion characteristics was no significance, p>0,05. Permanent hemostasis was obtained by hemoclip application in 92,7%, rebleeding 7.3%.

Conclusions: Endoscopic hemoclip treatment is an effective and safe method. With the improvement of the clip and application device, the procedure has become easier and much more efficient.
