Abstract

Cryptococcus is a common infectious etiology in HIV patients, the fourth among the most common infections in AIDS patients with T-CD4 cell count is less than 100 cell/mm3. It can cause diseases in many organs such as meningitis, bacteremia, pneumonia, hepatitis, peritonitis ... in which meningitis is the most common disease. The disease has a high mortality rate and can leave many sequelae such as blindness, mental disorders, paralysis… if it is not diagnosed and treated promptly.[1-3] Cryptococcus infections are commonly reported in HIV patients.

However, It can still cause disease in immunocompetent patients. We report two cases of cryptococcal meningitis in non HIV patient were treated at The Infectious Diseases Deparment in Military Hospital 175.
