Abstract

Objective: determine the drug treatment compliance rate of people with schizophrenia and related factors at Tan Binh District Medical Center in 2023.

Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional study on 239 schizophrenia patients receiving outpatient treatment at Tan Binh District Medical Center at the time of conducting the study with the Morisky-8 scale.

Results: The drug treatment compliance rate reached 54.81%. In the group with medication adherence, 33.59% had high adherence and 66.41% had moderate adherence. Research has shown that regularly being taken to the doctor for examination and receiving medication by family members, as well as regularly being consulted and guided by medical staff on medication use, will be factors that positively impact the rate of compliance with medication treatment.

Conclusion: The patient’s family needs attention, care, and encouragement to create favorable conditions for the patient’s treatment process. Medical staff need to continuously connect or visit directly so that patients who are late for follow-up visits or receive their medicine on time.
