Abstract

Objective: Evaluation of the role of chest radiography in early staging and progression of non-small cell lung cancer.

Subjects anh methods: Retrospective, cross-sectional study on 272 patients treated for non-small cell lung cancer at Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital. Results: The rate of single tumors was the highest at 66.2%. The most common is the right lung (62.4%), in which the upper lobe of the right lung is most common (31.5%) and the tumor is most common in the periphery (55.7%). Multi-arc or tendril shorelines constitute the majority (92.1%). The complete solid density is the majority with 80.8%. Common radiographic signs were pleural effusion (51.1%) and atelectasis (15.8%). Stage IV accounted for 17.8%, early stages (stages I and II) and regional progression (stages II and III) accounted for the majority at 82.2%. Low radiological detection of metastases with only 39/272 patients, accounting for 14.3%.

Conclusion: Chest radiography can help predict the stage of early disease, locally advanced disease or distant metastatic disease.
