Abstract

Backgrounds: Wilms’ tumor or nephroblastoma is the most common type of cancer that accounts for 95% of all kidney tumors in children. Imaging diagnosis takes an important role in the detection and diagnosis of tumors and so does Computer tomographic.

Objectives: To determine the value of Computer tomographic in the diagnosis and evaluation of Wilms tumor localization.

Patients and Methods: 62 pediatric patients were diagnosed and operated at the Children Hospital 2 Ho Chi Minh city from 01 June 2013 to 01 June 2017. The patients have had an Computer tomographic study before surgery and had biopsy finding clearly. Study was designed with cases series and cross sectional analysis.

Tools and means of study: CT images were taken by “CT Light Speed” machine with 8 probe ranges of GE incorporation, USA. Results: Computer tomographic could diagnose Wilms tumors with a sensitivity of 86.7%, specificity of 52.9%, positive predictive value of 83%, negative predictive value of 60%, accuracy of 77, 4%. Diagnosis of perirenal involvement with sensitivity: 75.0%, specificity: 73.7%, positive predictive value: 80.8%, negative predictive value: 66.7% body: 74.5%. Signs of invasive lymph nodes: Sensitivity: 66.7%, specificity: 95.5%, positive predictive value: 50%, negative predictive value: 97.7%, accuracy: 93.6 %. Signs of invasive blood vessels: Sensitivity: 60.0%, specificity: 100%, positive predictive value: 100%, negative predictive value: 95.5%, accuracy: 95.7% . Signs of breakage: Sensitivity: 100%, specificity: 97.7%, positive predictive value: 80.0%, negative predictive value: 100%, accuracy: 97.8%. Conclusions: Computer tomographic have been shown to play an important role in invasive assessment: the surrounding organs, lymph nodes, blood vessels, and distant metastases.
