Abstract

Objective: Assessment of depression, anxiety and stress in covid-19 infected individuals in 5C field hospital

Subjects and method: Descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 430 patients who were treated for Covid-19 with face – to – face interview method and retrospective medical records from July 2021 to October 2021. The study used a scaled for Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21).

Results: The prevalence of depression, anxiety and Stress were 33.49%, 15.35% and 13.72%. In 15.35% of patients with depression, 8.6% of patients had mild depression; 3.97% patients with moderate depression; 2.33% of patients with major depression and 0.47% of patients with major depression. In 33.49% of patients with anxiety, there were 7.67% of patients with mild anxiety; 15.35% of patients with moderate anxiety; 4.88% of patients with severe anxiety and 5.58% of patients with very severe anxiety. In 13.72% of patients with stress, there are 7.44% of patients with mild stress level; 3.72% of patients with moderate stress; 2.09% of patients with severe stress and 0.47% of patients with severe anxiety. Factors associated with anxiety was age group (p<0.001) and Stress was significantly associated with vaccinate (p = 0,016 < 0,05).

Conclusion: The low levels of depression and stress among our military sample population demonstrate the importance of periodic monitoring of the psychometric items and mplement psychological prevention strategies in military units.
